About Us
Meet Coach Derek Roth. Derek is the Head Coach for the Penn State University Boxing Club Team. The Penn State Boxing Club Team is often the number one civilian boxing team in the United States since 2019. Coach is the 2023 National Collegiate Boxing Association (NCBA) Coach of the Year. He brings this experience to the Academy:
30 years of Martial Arts experience
25 years of boxing experience
Trained in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu since 2009
Student of Kosen Judo
Mixed Martial Arts competitor
Kickboxing and Muay Thai competitor
PA Golden Glove Boxer
Derek develops and teaches all the curriculum available from the Academy from his years of experience coaching national champions. His classes, private sessions, continual coaching, and mentoring reflects his experience and wisdom that will help anyone meet their goals for fitness, competitiveness and life in general.

“The National Collegiate Boxing Association (NCBA) was formed in 1976 and is a group member of USA Boxing. The NCBA philosophy and rules provide a safe outlet for student boxers with little or no experience in the sport. The organization emphasizes the teaching of fundamental novice boxing skills while providing a safe, positive, and educational experience for student athletes. The NCBA encourages participation at the recreational, instructional, intramural, and competitive amateur boxing levels.”
Meet Chancellor Steven Kellogg. Once you meet Steve you’ll immediately know that he has not spent nearly enough time in a gym over the years. He is, however, rather experienced in the ways of the world having spent close to a half century working as an Engineer and Engineering Manager leading and managing people, technologies , facilities, financial, and organizational matters for two large international companies and Penn State University. Think of Steve as the general administrator for the Academy.
